Jane Goodall Visits Costa Rica

In late August, 2007, world-renowned primatologist and conservationist Jane Goodall visited Costa Rica for the third time.  She came to promote sustainability initiatives in eight local schools.

Part of her trip involved visiting the Country Day School in Escazú, west of the capital city of San José.  There she gave a talk and also heard reports of student’s conservation efforts as part of the Jane Goodall Institute's program, Roots and Shoots.  This program promotes service learning projects for youth to help animals, the environment, and communities in need.  There are Roots and Shoots projects in over 100 countries.—As reported by Blake Schmidt in the September 7, 2007 issue of Tico Times.
